isles of tiree & coll Tiree welcomes all with its never ending silver shores, scattered crofts and cottages and a quality of light that can only be described as unique. Holding the highest sunshine record in Britain Tiree is idyllic and seems almost tropical.

Sunlit crofts amid blankets of colour shine out and dot the horizons. Its landscape – flat in comparison to other islands accentuates even more the dramatic change between the scapes – sky, land and sea. Tiree is unique in the sense that it still maintains its traditional crofts and cottages – thus becoming a living museum to Scottish architecture.

It still amazes me that two islands so close to one another are so different. Coll, in comparison to neighbouring Tiree is rugged and very rocky with large grass sand dunes. It yields more elevation than Tiree with its occasional hillocks and overall it offers a more ‘wild’ landscape.
